“I didn’t feel that I was able to be myself,
to have the time to truly listen and respond.”
Hi, I’m Judy Boyce~I’m a doctor and a coach...
What do I know about getting what I want?
It’s happening for me as we speak!
I’ve been a physician in clinical practice for 20 years, and before that, an acute care nurse for 20 years...that’s a LOT of years in health care. A lot of years feeling unfulfilled. Because - although I was cut out for this work, the combination of science and helping people - I did not feel that I was able to be myself, to have the time to listen and respond, to TRULY HELP my patients. What I wanted to do...was COACH THEM!
Everyone needs a coach!
Coaches are cheerleaders, motivators, sounding boards. They can give valuable feedback and nudge us toward our goals. Most importantly, they ask us the tough questions. Questions that expose our limiting thoughts and beliefs - those assumptions that we’ve held for a lifetime and could very well be holding us back.
OK, I wanted to retire from medical practice and become an online health coach, so…I hired a coach.
I actually wanted to do it 5 years ago but my limiting beliefs around scarcity and security kept me at my desk in a conventional medical practice where I was struggling to stay happy and motivated.
Finally, the risk of retiring too early was out-weighed by the pain of staying put. I wanted to become a coach, to truly help women over 50 transform their lives, like I wanted to do. I wasn’t retiring from LIFE, only from office medical work. I wanted to reinvent myself, do something that would feed my SOUL, something I was passionate about. And, yes, something that was also financially rewarding, so I could work less and give back more. I knew I had to make the leap.
Back in 2017, I started blogging about self-care and optimal health, two subjects near and dear to my heart, with plans to take a coaching course and start my online business in the future.
That was when things started to take off for me! My business coach, also an MD and a coach, has been instrumental in helping chart my path, keep me accountable and on track with assignments, and lend support and expert guidance as I found my way in a totally new world - the exciting world of online entrepreneurship!
I wanted badly to become an entrepreneur, I wanted the freedom to work from home, and I wanted to move to my house in France to do it.
Those were my BIG WANTS for 2020. It took me 3 years to get clear on them.
Don’t wait for years to get clear!

Here’s how I got what I wanted
I got very clear on my ‘wants.’
I made my list and set my retirement date for the end of August.
I started researching moving to France as a Canadian. I researched what paperwork my cat needed to travel to Europe. I spent a lot of time working out various scenarios and travel logistics, especially as COVID became more of a factor, borders were closing, countries were entering lockdown - including Bermuda, where I lived. I knew I’d have a narrow window between my retirement date and the onset of flu season in the Fall, when a COVID second wave was predicted. I had to be in France, avec le chat, by the end of September. Period.
I was 100%committed to my goals.
It took laser focus, especially as COVID uncertainty became an unwelcome reality.
During our Spring lockdown, I studied, cooked and worked out, staying fit - so I had the energy to stay motivated. With every bump in the road - and there were many - I created a new scenario or plan. Plans A, B, C...they were adding up! People thought I was crazy. Our airport was closed until July! I couldn’t travel to Toronto or New York to submit my application for a French long-stay visa. I just had to keep going, changing my plans as the ground shifted beneath my feet. Staying stuck was just not an option.
I believed I could do it.
No matter what anyone said, I stayed as positive and optimistic as I possibly could.
I have a ‘can-do’ mindset, anyway. But in the face of a global pandemic, then the onset of a particularly active hurricane season, my mindset was definitely put to the test. My mantra was, I just have to get us there. We just have to get there. Then, I knew we’d be fine.
I was prepared to work for it.
I spent hours and hours researching, writing emails, and making calls.
I became an expert on moving to France as an expat Canadian!
I enrolled in the Primal Health Coaching course and kept up my blogging and social media presence. I planned the packing and moving timeline for the overseas relocation, sold my car, and organized a house sale (with help from friends).
I researched transporting a cat to the European Union through the United Kingdom, which was our flight path. We were holing up in a flat in London for a week between Bermuda and Provence so we could both recover from the stress of the 7-hour flight and jet-lag. He needed almost as much paperwork as I did, and had his own dossier for UK Customs at Gatwick Airport!
It cost money.
Every step seemed to have a dollar value attached to it.
The vets, the movers, the official documents. Flights, our apartment in London, pet transportation, rental cars. Etc. Etc.
If you want something badly enough, you have to be prepared to pay for it. It’s an investment in your future happiness!
Rémy the cat and I arrived safely at my home in Provence on October 4, 2020.
I asked for help.
As much as I like to do things for myself, to go it alone, there comes a point when a person needs help.
That point, for me, was when I finally got to France and applied for a long-stay visa as a foreign homeowner who was already in the country. The pile of paperwork and required documentation was overwhelming. I emailed an immigration lawyer for help. More money! But, boy, was it worth it.
They answered all my questions, completed the paperwork, gave me a clear list of the documents I needed translated, and came to my immigration appointment with me. I now have a permit to remain in France until my official visa application is processed.
I prayed.
Have you heard of the Law of Attraction?
I’m a big believer! I visualized, chanted affirmations, meditated on and prayed to my Higher Power for what I wanted.
I keep a daily gratitude journal and I notice every time The Universe bestows a gift.
And as we speak, I write from my home office on the top floor of my Provençal home, snowy Alps in the distance, sun setting on another blissful day.
I’ve got what I wanted for 2020. Thank you!
I’ll walk you through my 7 steps to getting what you want: clarity, commitment, confidence, work ethic, money mindset, expert help, and prayer, and how they all work to you get what you want.
Coaching plays a supporting role at every point on the list.
(And, there’s more! I have a secret weapon that I’ll share with you on the call.)

What holds us back from getting what we want?
NOT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT
“Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate, and make sure you know what you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”
— Paulo Coelho
Some things that might be on your “WHAT I REALLY WANT” list:
freedom
a new career
optimum health
real love
spiritual growth
better sleep
a fit body
to leave a legacy
What might be keeping YOU from having what you really want … for 2021 and for the rest of your life?
confusion & ambivalence
fear of the unknown
lack of commitment
low energy
low motivation
little faith

“Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance.”
